Education system, Lombardy's excellences

Lombardy boasts universities of international excellence and a high-level human capital equipped with the new skills required by the market.

Lombardy is an excellence in the training landscape: it produces the largest number of graduates in Italy, with growth two times higher (+21%) than the national average (+10%). It welcomes 19.3% of Italian students (66,684), who in 75% of cases are able to find a job just one year after graduation.

The Lombardy capital is second in Italy in terms of number of students, over 200 thousand, with a marked tendency towards advanced training, ranking first in terms of Master's Degrees and "Afam" courses, i.e. the Institutes of High Training in Art, Music and Dance.

Milan is also first in terms of number and size of universities: the Statale, the Polytechnic and the Cattolica have more than 40 thousand members and Bicocca has more than 30 thousand. Bocconi University is fourth in Europe in the "QS ranking" of its sector, the Polytechnic is among the top 20 in the world for Engineering, and all the large universities are also joining the ranks of the top universities in the world.

The Polytechnic is 1st in Italy and 50th among the top European universities. The Milan University ranks 47th in the Old Continent according to the QS ranking, reaching  top level positions also in terms of academic reputation and among employers. From a research and sustainability point of view, good scores also for San Raffaele, Bicocca and Statale Universities.

The other regional territories are not far behind: For instance in Pavia has been inaugurated the largest medical campus in Lombardy. The facility will accommodate up to 4,500 students, with computerized classrooms and a wing entirely devoted to innovative surgical techniques.

The link between universities, businesses and research contributes to the acquisition of technical knowledge and transversal skills, for both students and professionals. Training and enhancement of human capital in the innovation process, the perfect combination for the skills of the future.
