Regione Lombardia together with its dedicated team to supporting the attractiveness of the territory, Invest in Lombardy, took part to the second annual meeting of the Transatlantic Investment Committee - TIC.

The conference has taken place at the Embassy of Italy to the United States of America in Washington DC on October 13, 2023.

Born in 2021 as a project and networking platform, to date, TIC is close to being a “Transatlantic Harmonic Foundation” dedicated to co-investments aimed at increasing the level of competitiveness and strategic autonomy of Italy, Europe and the United States.

In this scenario of promoting a transatlantic partnership, Lombardy Region underlined the opportunity to promote co-investments with US areas in specific technology verticals of strategic interest:

  • Digital Technologies
  • Biotech
  • Aerospace
  • Energy and Cleantech

In front of an audience of enterprises and associations, Lombardy Region took the floor during a dedicated roundtable session, presenting its vertical and territorial highlights.

Lombardy boasts about 7.000 foreign-invested enterprises, of which more than 1.300 are from US. Particularly, in the last 4 years more than 80 investment projects from US companies landed in Lombardy, mainly from the States of California, New York and Massachusetts. For a total of about 5,000 new jobs created, and investments range between €5.000.000 –and €10.000.000

As of today, the Invest in Lombardy team has supported more than 40 US enterprises, 22% of which with an investment expenditure over than €10.000.000 and mainly related to the Aerospace, ICT and Energy industries.

The event is a first step to nurture a dialogue on innovation and industrial investments by starting to leverage specific areas and strategic sectors to boost transatlantic competitiveness and autonomy. A coordinated effort and joint partnerships will lead to more effective and timely results in many of the industries that are key to face the most prominent challenges in the years to come.
