Companies, universities and institutions together for Pavia's microelectronics district

The event 'Microelettronica, industria delle industrie. Il distretto pavese' was held at the Aula Magna of the University of Pavia, in the presence, among others, of the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso and Guido Guidesi, Councillor for Economic Development of the Lombardy Region.
The meeting boasts the participation of companies belonging to the microelectronics district and it is intended to be an opportunity for discuss on this sector of excellence. Also with a view to the possible establishment on the Pavia territory of the headquarters of the industry's strategic hub as well as creation of an Italian research center dedicated to microchip design. 
The Pavese Microelectronics District, born from the partnership agreement between universities and companies and currently made up of 17 companies, has activated an important cluster of skills, high-level training, growth strategies and integrated production for the area.
Thanks to the synergy between companies and Universities, the Pavia area can boast its district as a unique excellence capable of promoting local development and making the area attractive and competitive, so much that it is home to many multinational companies that nowadays have found an extremely fertile and productive ecosystem, thus being accredited as the only Microelectronics supply chain by the Lombardy Region.
Through this ambitious project, Pavia wants to play a leading role in a region, Lombardy, which is first in Italy in terms of microelectronics size, with 667 local units (30% of microelectronics in Italy), over 13,000 employees (36%) and 940 million exports (40%). (Source).
