“From Japan to Lombardy”: Two New Investments Announced for Lombardy at the Italian Pavilion, Expo Osaka
As part of the event “From Japan to Lombardy: the reasons behind a choice through the testimonies of businesses”, held on October 9 at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, two major industrial investments in the Lombardy Region were officially announced. The initiative, promoted by Regione Lombardia in collaboration with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and leading Japanese companies, took place during the Lombardy Week at the World Expo.
The event served not only as an institutional and media showcase, but also as a concrete moment of dialogue between the Japanese business community and the Lombard economic system. The Regional Minister for Economic Development, Guido Guidesi, described the conference as “an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen the economic and institutional relationship between Lombardy and Japan.”
The event also highlighted that over 50% of Japanese companies operating in Italy are based in Lombardy, generating 38% of the total turnover in the country — a fact that reinforces the region’s role as a natural bridge for economic relations with Japan.
Expo 2025 Osaka confirms itself as a strategic asset for Italy’s economic diplomacy: the Italian Pavilion has hosted 791 events in total, including 210 with economic relevance and over 171 B2B and networking initiatives.
Throughout the Expo, investments worth a total of €1.766 billion were announced or signed, demonstrating the catalytic role that the Italian Pavilion has played for Italian companies on the international stage.
Regione Lombardia’s participation in Lombardy Week (October 5–13) within the Italian Pavilion made it possible to create an immersive narrative of the region, through digital installations, interactive storytelling, and institutional presentations that combined innovation, culture, and landscape.
